The Procedure. 1. Level One
a. The party with a grievance will first discuss it with his/her principal or immediate supervisor within 15 days from the time the grievant knew or should have known of the incident giving rise to the grievance with the objective of resolving the matter formally.
b. If the grievant is not satisfied with the formal disposition of his/her grievance, he/she may communicate a written grievance with his/her principal within ten (10) days of the informal meeting. The principal shall make a written decision within ten (10) days of receipt of the written grievance and attach it to the original grievance. Copies shall be sent to the grievant within five (5) days of the decision.
The Procedure. A. Level One:
1. The party with a grievance will first discuss it with his principal or immediate supervisor within seven (7) working days of the incident or knowledge thereof, with the objective of resolving the matter informally.
2. If the grievant is not satisfied with the informal disposition of his grievance, he/she may communicate a written grievance with his/her principal within seven (7) working days of the informal meeting, but not later than fourteen (14) days from the date of alleged violation or knowledge thereof. The principal shall make a written decision within seven (7) working days and attach it to the original grievance. Copies shall be sent to the grievant and his/her representative within seven (7) working days of the original written grievance.
The Procedure. The following steps will be taken as appropriate in all cases of disciplinary action:
The Procedure. Step 1: Within five (5) work days following the reasonable discovery by the aggrieved party and/or the Union of the act or condition which is the basis of the grievance, the employee and/or the Union will request a conference with her/his Executive Director or designee to discuss the grievance on an informal basis. Said confidential proceedings will be between her/his Executive Director or designee, the employee, and/or the Union. Said conference shall be held within five (5) work days of the request.
Step 2: In the event the grievance is not resolved at Step 1, the employee and/or the Union will file a written grievance (Appendix E) with the departmental Executive Director or Deputy Superintendent if applicable, with copies to the Union. Said form shall be filed within five (5) work days after the informal conference. Within five (5) work days of receipt of the grievance, the departmental Executive Director or Deputy Superintendent if applicable will convene a meeting with representatives of the Union and the Employer in order to attempt to resolve the grievance. The departmental Executive Director or Deputy Superintendent if applicable will provide a written summary of the issue(s) brought forth and resolution reached, if any, to the aggrieved employee and the Union within three (3) work days of the meeting.
Step 3: Within five (5) work days after receiving the written summary of the departmental Executive Director or Deputy Superintendent if applicable, an appeal may be filed with the Executive Director of Human Resources. The appeal shall be accompanied by a copy of the signed grievance, and summary, if any, at Step 2. Within five (5) working days of receipt of the appeal, the Executive Director of Human Resources may convene a meeting with representatives of the Union and the Employer in order to attempt to resolve the grievance. The Local may have a representative from AFSCME Council 25 present at Step 3 and Step 4. Within five (5) work days of the Step 3 meeting, the Executive Director of Human Resources will give a written reply to the employee filing the grievance with copies to the Union.
Step 4: If not resolved at Step 3, the grievance may be appealed to the Superintendent. Said appeal shall be made within five (5) work days after the employee’s and/or the Union’s receipt of the Employer’s decision at Step 3.

The Procedure. A grievance as defined in this Agreement shall be processed and if possible, settled in accordance with the following grievance procedure:
(a) Step No.
1. The aggrieved party shall within seven (7) working days of when the aggrieved party or the Union learns all the facts that constitute the reason for the occurrence of the event giving rise to the grievance take the matter up with his/her immediate xxxxxxx and/or with whomever initiated the action that is being grieved, who shall, if possible, attempt to adjust the grievance. The grievance committeeman or the appointed xxxxxxx, at the request of the aggrieved employee, may or may not attend the discussion. Every effort will be made to settle all grievances at this level of supervision. Level I (Informal) Any certified employee of the school system who feels that he/she has a concern may initiate the process by discussing the matter with the building principal or immediate supervisor. A representative of the association may assist the employee in this resolution. If a resolution to the concern is not obtained through this discussion, the item should then be taken to the Superintendent of Schools. Every attempt should be made to resolve the problem at the informal level.
