Academic credits definition

Academic credits means credits earned after the awarding or conferring of the employee's 17 first bachelor's degree and earned on or before October 1 of the year for which calculations are 18 made. Credits shall be earned from an accredited community college, college, or university 19 and are transferable or applicable to a bachelor's or more advanced degree program. 21 The number of credits equals the number of quarter hours, units, or semester hours each 22 converted to quarter hours. Semester hours are converted to quarter hours by multiplying by 23 one and one-half. 25 "In-service credits" means credits earned after August 31, 1987, and earned on or before 26 October 1 of the year for which calculations are made. In-service credits are earned in state- 27 approved continuing education programs and are not counted as academic credits or for the 28 purpose of satisfying the requirements of the employee's next highest degree. Ten (10) in- 29 service credit hours equal one (1) in-service credit. 31 Clock hours will be granted in accordance with State guidelines and policies. 33 "Total eligible credits," for the person whose highest degree is a bachelor's degree, is a sum of 34 academic and in-service credits as defined above. 36 For an employee whose highest degree is a master's degree, sum academic and in-service 37 credits in excess of forty-five (45) earned after the awarding or conferring of the Bachelor's 38 degree and prior to the awarding or conferring of the master's degree. 40 Section 2: Appendix A Pay 42 Employees whose total pay for an extracurricular activity or supplemental contract is twelve 43 hundred dollars ($1,200.00) or less shall be paid in one lump sum in the May warrant.
