Payment for Working Overtime on a Holiday. Full-time Where an employee is required to work authorized overtime in excess of his regularly scheduled hours on a paid holiday (but not including hours on a subsequent regular scheduled shift), such employee shall receive two (2) times his regular straight time hourly rate for such additional authorized overtime. Part-time Where a part-time employee is required to work authorized overtime in excess of seven and one-half (7-1/2) hours on a paid holiday (but not including hours on a subsequent regular scheduled shift), such employee shall receive two (2) times his regular straight time hourly rate for such additional authorized overtime.

Where an employee has worked on a paid holiday such employee shall have the option of electing payment at the applicable premium rate or time off equivalent to the applicable overtime rate (i.e. where the applicable rate is time and one- half, then time off shall be at the rate of time and one half times). Where an employee chooses the latter option, such time off must be taken within the succeeding pay periods of the occurrence of the overtime at a time mutually agreeable to the hospital and the employee, or payment in accordance with the former option shall be made. In order to qualify for payment of the above named holidays an employee must work his regular scheduled working day immediately prior to and following the holiday, unless he is absent due to vacation, illness originating current or previous pay period in which the holiday occurs or leave of absence on Union business; all of which must be authorized by the Centre. The employee who has agreed to work on a holiday and who fails without reasonable cause to report for and perform his scheduled work on the holiday shall not qualify for holiday pay. When calculating holiday pay it is agreed that a paid holiday will commence at hours on the day preceding the paid holiday and end at hours on the paid holiday. Any employee required to work on any of the named paid holidays within this Collective Agreement shall be paid in the following manner:

An employee who has completed thirty-five (35) years of continuous service shall be entitled to an additional five (5) days vacation, with pay. To clarify, every employee who has attained their or anniversary date as of the effective date of this provision shall be entitled to have the full five days' vacation banked.
