Casual Employees definition

Casual Employees are employed on an "on call" basis to cover absences due to sick leave, vacation, or other approved leaves, or to augment staff during peak periods or periods of staff shortage.
Casual Employees means employees who are employed on a casual basis and includes persons who are employed for periods not exceeding five days at any one time.
Casual Employees means Employees employed on an on-call or irregularly scheduled basis; or who are hired to replace Permanent or Term Employees who are absent from work for any reason; or who are employed in a position with scheduled hours that are less than one-half (1/2) of a comparable Full-time position; or who are hired for a position expected to last less than six (6) months.

Examples of Casual Employees in a sentence

  • Casual Employees shall only be entitled to rely upon their cumulative seniority for the purpose of the Employer making an appointment to a posted vacant position pursuant to Article 1O(d) of this Agreement.

  • Casual Employees as defined herein shall be excluded from the bargaining unit covered by this Agreement.

  • Casual Employees shall lose their cumulative seniority in the event that they have not actively worked for the Employer for a period in excess of twelve (12) months.

  • Subject to the provisions below, Casual Employees shall be entitled to cumulative seniority from date of hire based on days worked with four (4) hours or more being equal to one (1) day; less than four (4) hours being equal to half (½) a day; and twenty-one (21) days being equal to one (1) month.


More Definitions of Casual Employees

Casual Employees means an employee who is employed on an hourly basis, and who has no reasonable expectation of regular work. A casual employee is not entitled to any termination payments pursuant to this Agreement.
Casual Employees means a person employed on an irregular, sporadic, or as needed basis. Casual Employees will not be used for the purpose of eliminating or replacing full time Employees or to avoid hiring full time Employees.

Casual Employees means persons employed by the Board on a casual basis to replace permanent employees during an absence, for special projects or during periods of heavy workload.
